Manchester United ready to be patient for top transfer target

Manchester United are prepared to play the long game in order to land Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho this summer, claims The Daily Mail.

Sancho has developed into one of the best prospects in world football over the last 12 months and United have been chasing his signature since the end of last season.

The Coronavirus pandemic has thrown United's pursuit into doubt, with Dortmund adamant they will only cash in on Sancho if they receive a bid of €100m.

However, transfer fees are expected to tumble as a result of the pandemic and United are hopeful of prising Sancho away for a much lower fee.

Despite interest from Real Madrid and Liverpool, United are confident they are the only side in the race for Sancho.

Sancho's preference is to return to England and Liverpool are unlikely to part ways with the money required after turning down £52m-rated Timo Werner for the same reason.

The 20-year-old has been in breathtaking form for Dortmund this season, though the German club are reportedly running out of patience with the youngster.

Dortmund have had to discipline Sancho on more than one occasion during his three years at the club.

Nevertheless, Sancho has let his talking happen on the pitch where he has returned 33 goals and assists in 31 league appearances this season.
