Tierney going nowhere, states Arsenal boss

Kieran Tierney won't be leaving Arsenal this summer after a string of solid showings, Mikel Arteta has stated.

The Scot joined the Gunners from Celtic last year, but injuries have limited the 23-year-old to just nine league starts.

Recent reports had linked Tierney with a move to Leicester, who the Foxes had been courting as a possible replacement for Ben Chilwell.

Chilwell is being courted by Chelsea, who are looking to sign a new left-back this summer.

However, while Tierney has been mooted as a possible target for Leicester, who are managed by the defender's former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, Arteta insists the left-back won't be going anywhere.

"He’s not going anywhere. I really like him," Arteta is quoted as saying by Standard Sport.

"I’m very impressed him. Everybody loves him at the club and he earns that every single day with the way he treats people, the way he works and the energy he brings to the place.

"And then with his performances, I am delighted. He has adapted really well, he is a player that gives you everything in every session and every game. And the quality he has added as well.

"He’s still so young, he has things to improve obviously but he’s been a great addition to the team."

Tierney is in line to feature from left wing-back when Arsenal take on Tottenham later today.
