Chelsea have been given encouragement of their pursuit of attacking midfielder Bernardo Silva after the Monaco star reiterated his desire to play in the Premier League or La Liga.
Silva, 22, is enjoying his best season for Monaco since joining from Benfica in January 2015 and his performances for the Ligue 1 leaders has seen him linked with a big money move to Chelsea at the end of the season.
The Portugal international, who previously made a name for himself at the Under-21 European Championships in 2015, was in sparkling form in Monaco’s Champions League last 16 win over Manchester City and has now fuelled talks of a move to England after claiming it’s a dream of his to play there.
“For now, I’m feeling very well here in Monaco,” Silva told CNN, via Football Espana. “It’s my third season in France, but of course all the players want to play in the best leagues.
“Spain and England are the best, and of course I dream one day to be there.”
Silva, who has also revealed his dream is to end his career back at Benfica, still has a long time left to run on his current deal that isn’t due to expire until 2020 and there have previously been fees of £68.4m mooted with any deal this summer.
The Portuguese creator is enjoying his most influential campaign for Monaco having scored six goals and registered seven assists in 31 league appearances for Leonardo Jardim’s side.
