Manchester City will step up their interest in Everton defender John Stones and bid £50m, according to The Daily Mail.
Stones, 22, has been heavily linked with a move away to the Etihad after Pep Guardiola was confirmed as City manager with the Spaniard seeking a ball-playing centre-back.
The England international was subject of intense interest from Chelsea last summer but Everton rejected all of their bids, which ended up being in excess of £30m.
No outfield player made more errors that directly led to a goal in the Premier League last season than Stones (3).
