Tottenham winger Erik Lamela has refused to rule out a return to Roma in the future.
Lamela, 22, looked destined to leave White Hart Lane over the summer after failing to live up to his £28m price tag when he joined in 2013.
However, the Argentina international has improved dramatically under Mauricio Pochettino this season and proven a real asset for Spurs, although he has left the door open with a return to the Serie A outfit.
“I think there hasn’t been interest and I’ve always thought of Tottenham,” Lamela told Fox Sport. “Here they make me feel important.
“For the moment a move is difficult, but maybe in the future why not? Also to Roma.”
What has been most impressive about Lamela this season is how he has bought into Pochettino’s high intensity philosophy, although perhaps too much as he has already raked up five bookings for the season.
However, the natural forward player averages more tackle per game (2.5) than the likes of Jan Vertonghen (2) and Toby Alderweireld (0.8) in the league this season, proving he is prepared to work defensively, as well as offensively, furthering his statistically calculated strength of 'defensive contribution'.
