Lichtsteiner confirms Arsenal talks

Juventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner has confirmed he is in talks to join Arsenal this summer but insists there is still a long way to go.

The 34-year-old is out of contract this summer and Juventus are not going to prolong his stay at the club.

Lichtsteiner has emerged as a shock transfer target for Arsenal since Unai Emery’s appointment, as the Spaniard seeks experience.

The Gunners are the favourites to sign the Switzerland international, but Lichtsteiner insists talks are still on going.

“Nothing is finished yet,” Sky Sports quote Lichtsteiner as saying. “I cannot comment on the negotiations. As long as nothing is completed, that is always interesting in football. I think we all know that.”

Lichtsteiner has already confirmed he has no interest in cashing in on a move to China and is still targeting a club competing in Europe.

Arsenal are also being linked with moves for Sokratis and Marouane Fellaini, signalling a dramatic shift in transfer policy since Emery’s appointment.
