Marseille captain to decide future at end of the season

Bafetimbi Gomis will wait until the end of the season before deciding whether to make his loan switch from Swansea to Marseille permanent.

Gomis, 31, joined Marseille during the summer on an initial season-long loan deal but isn’t going to rush into a decision on his future despite making a good start to life in Ligue 1.

Marseille’s president has already hinted at the fact the club would like to keep Gomis, who has captained the side in recent matches, but Gomis insists he will wait before deciding.

“We will do the necessary at the end of the season, when it’s time,” Gomis told the South Wales Evening Post.

Gomis has featured in every minute of Marseille’s Ligue 1 campaign this season and has already matched his goal tally last season (33 apps) in 10 matches this time around (6 goals).

Furthermore, only Alexandre Lacazette (7) and Edinson Cavani (9) have scored more goals than the Marseille frontman (6).
