Morgan Schneiderlin has revealed the decision behind his move to Everton.
The France international departed Manchester United following a disappointing 18-month spell at Old Trafford for the Toffees this week and was linked with a switch to West Brom.
Schneiderlin’s switch to Goodison Park means he links up with Ronald Koeman once again as Everton look to haul themselves up the Premier league table.
And when quizzed by talkSPORT on why he chose Everton, the 27-year-old midfielder revealed the investment in the club and the Toffees’ ambitions are why he opted to move to Merseyside.
“The team have big hopes, and that is why I joined Everton,” Schneiderlin said.
“They want to achieve some great things. Right now when you look at the league table there is a bit of a gap between the top six and us in seventh, but we are going take it game by game and see in one or two months where we are in the league.
“We want to try and close the gap with the top six and see what it can bring us. We must improve every game to give us a good platform for the next six months, next season, and to be ready to challenge every team in the top six, top five - as that’s where this club belongs.”
When pressed further on whether Champions League aspirations are the long-term ambitions for Everton, Schneiderlin added: “That’s the aim of this football club.”
