Spurs target signs new deal

Marseille have announced Michy Batshuayi has put pen to paper on a new five-year deal keeping him at the club until 2020 amid interest from the Premier League.

Spurs had been leading the charge to sign the highly rated Belgium international in an attempt to ease the goalscoring burden on Harry Kane but they will now have to look elsewhere.

The 23-year-old already had four years left to run on his previous contract, but Marseille were keen to extend his deal in order to ward off interest from suitors in the Premier League.

Of players to make at least 15 appearances in Ligue 1 since August 2014 only one other player has required fewer minutes per goal than Batshuayi (124.9 mins).
