Tottenham have confirmed that midfielder Harry Winks will miss the remainder of the season due to an ankle injury sustained in the 2-0 win over Burnley.
The England U21 international was stretchered off at Turf Moor following a nasty coming together, though Spurs were hopeful that he could return before the close of the campaign.
However, it has since been confirmed that Winks will not feature again this term.
“Following further assessment and scans, we can confirm that Harry Winks sustained ligament damage to his left ankle during Saturday's win at Burnley,” a statement read on Tottenham’s official website.
“The England Under-21 international will continue to be monitored by our medical team during his recovery and will be unavailable for the remainder of the season.”
The 21-year-old was making inroads for the Spurs first team, with his pass success rate (90.2%) bettered only by Mousa Dembele (91.5%) of all Tottenham players in the Premier League this season.
