Barcelona to launch summer bid for Manchester United target
Barcelona are readying an £89m move for Atletico Madrid star and Manchester United target Antoine Griezmann this summer, reports Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.
United were heavily linked with a move for the France international earlier in the year, but their efforts to lure Griezmann to Old Trafford were dealt a blow by Atletico’s transfer ban.
Instead of leave Atletico in the lurch, Griezmann elected to stay in Madrid and penned a new deal with a promise that he would be able to depart the Spanish capital next summer.
United may still rekindle their interest in the 26-year-old at the end of the season, yet could struggle to lure Griezmann to England.
Barcelona are believed to be keeping tabs on the Frenchman and are keen to secure his services to bolster their attacking options.
Griezmann has struggled for his best form this term, scoring just two goals and registering one assist from seven league starts.
His sub-par performances are unlikely to deter Barcelona and United from moving for Griezmann next year, however.
