Barcelona already know Bravo replacement

Barcelona will sign Valencia goalkeeper Diego Alves when Claudio Bravo completes his move to Manchester City, according to ESPN.

Bravo, 32, is expected to leave the La Liga champions for City towards the end of the transfer window and Luis Enrique has already identified the man he wants to replace the Chilean.

Barcelona are also interested in signing Valencia striker Paco Alcacer, but their sporting director, Jesus Garcia Pitarch, insists he will not be leaving. The same cannot be said for Alves, however, who wants to move after the promise of a better contract was not fulfilled.

“In January [Alves’] agent asked us for a wage rise to move him in line with the club’s top earners because the previous president [Amadeo Salvo] had promised him,” ESPN quoted him as saying.

“The situation means it’s not possible for us to meet those demands and we have told Diego and his agent they can look for [another club] where he’ll be [better] remunerated.

“If Diego decides to stay it would be good news, but I think due to his age and the conditions that won’t happen.”
