Manchester United start contract talks with De Gea

Manchester United have started talks with David De Gea’s representatives about a new long-term deal, reports The Daily Telegraph.

De Gea’s current deal is due to expire at the end of next season but United have an option to extend that by a further 12 months.

Jose Mourinho on Friday called for United to resolve De Gea’s future as soon as possible and now the Red Devils have started preliminary talks with a view to handing him a new contract before the end of the season.

The Spain international has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in the last few years after establishing himself as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe and his reputation has only enhanced this season.

De Gea has kept more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in Europe’s top five leagues this season (13).
