Wan-Bissaka to undergo Manchester United medical

Manchester United have an agreement in principle for Crystal Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, claims BBC Sport.

The Red Devils have agreed to make Wan-Bissaka one of the most expensive defenders of all-time in a deal worth up to £50m.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have already agreed personal terms with Wan-Bissaka up to £90,000-a-week, representing a huge increase on his current £10,000-a-week salary at Palace.

The only thing standing in the way of Wan-Bissaka officially becoming a United player is a medical, which is due to take place imminently.

England’s Under-21s failed to get out of their group at this summer’s European Championships and that has helped speed up a deal for Wan-Bissaka.

United have also managed to retain their 25% sell-on clause with Wilfried Zaha, which Palace were keen to remove during negotiations for Wan-Bissaka.

The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League over the last 18 months and United finally have a specialist right-back in their ranks.

United have used Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia, who are both wingers, at right-back in recent years, though the latter has now left the club.

Wan-Bissaka made more tackles (129) than any other defender in Europe’s top five leagues last season.
