West Ham have turned down big offers from the Chinese Super League for star striker Andy Carroll in the build up to their transfer deadline on Tuesday, reports The Daily Mail.
Chinese clubs were able to register new players up until Tuesday evening and a trio of teams expressed late interest in Carroll, although Slaven Bilic’s side were not interested in entertaining any offers.
Carroll has only just returned to training following a groin injury that kept him out of their 1-1 draw with Watford and with Diafra Sakho not due back until later this month his absence would have left the Hammers short of options in attack.
Michail Antonio, who is predominately a winger, has also played through the middle but he is suspended for their clash with Chelsea on Monday after being sent off last time out.
West Ham have struggled to keep Carroll fit since he joined the club from Liverpool in 2012 and you wouldn’t have blamed them for listening to bid offers from China, although midway through the season is never ideal.
Carroll has only started nine league matches this season but has weighed in with six goals, including a goal of the season contender against Crystal Palace in January. He remains on course to score double figures in league campaign for the first time since his last campaign for Newcastle in 2010/11 (11 goals).
