Tottenham target Grealish to get January buy-out clause

Aston Villa will reward Jack Grealish with a new contract but there will be a buy-out clause included to allow a January move, reports The Sun.

Grealish looked destined to leave Villa at the start of the summer but new investors eased the club's financial woes and successfully fended off interest from Tottenham.

The England Under-21 international still has two years left to run on his existing deal but Villa will reward him with improved terms.

Grealish is desperate to play in the Champions League but is already over his failed move to Tottenham and ready to knuckle down at Villa Park.

However, Steve Bruce’s side will include a £30m buy-out clause in his new deal to enable a January move if Tottenham rekindle their interest.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side refused to increase their £25m offer for the 22-year-old but Villa will not stand in his way if their valuation is met.

Grealish emerged as one of the best players in the Championship last season and Villa will hope to make a strong start to the season after keeping their star midfielder.

Villa had a marginally better win ratio when Grealish started in the league last season (54.5%) compared to when he did not feature from the off (48.1%).
