Sampdoria centre-back set for Inter switch

Inter are closing in on the signing of young centre-back Milan Skriniar, according to Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero.

The 22-year-old made 34 league starts in Serie A last season and registered a better pass success rate (91.4%) than any other player in Italy’s top tier.

The young centre-back was with the Slovakia U21 squad for the European U21 Championship in Poland, only to crash out at the group stage of the tournament.

And Ferrero has announced that Skriniar, who is valued at €30m, is now on the cusp of a move to Inter.

“It’s almost done. I won’t talk about fees,” Ferraro told Radio CRC via Calciomercato.com of Skriniar's impending switch from Sampdoria to Inter.

Both teams met on Tuesday to confirm the deal following Slovakia U21s exit from the Euros, in which Skriniar played in all three matches.

Slovakia U21 overcame Poland and Sweden at the competition, yet failed to progress to the semi-final stage due to their inferior goal difference compared to Germany.
