Aston Villa have already made five signings this month but aren’t finished yet as they eye a move for Swansea duo Neil Taylor and Modou Barrow, reports The Daily Telegraph.
Steve Bruce’s side have already brought Sam Johnstone, Henri Lansbury, Conor Hourihane, James Bree and Birkir Bjarnason to the club this month totalling transfer activity in the region of £10m.
Villa are currently nine points off the top six and Bruce wants to make at least two more signings to bolster the squad in an attempt to finish the Championship campaign strongly, with a raid of Premier League strugglers Swansea on the cards.
Bruce has earmarked experienced left-back Taylor as a possible replacement for Jordan Amavi, while Barrow could be another to join the Championship outfit with Jordan Ayew going in the other direction.
Ayew, 25, is currently on Africa Cup of Nations duty with Ghana but is arguably the best player in the Championship having joined Villa from Marseille at the start of last season.
The 25-year-old’s brother, Andre, enjoyed great success at Swansea before sealing a £20m move to West Ham in August and would represent a significant upgrade on Paul Clement’s current wide options.
Only Jonathan Kodjia (7.19) has a higher WhoScored rating in the Championship for Villa this season than Ayew (7.15), while he has also completed the most dribbles for Bruce’s side (49).
