Tottenham midfielder Eriksen to resist January bids

Christian Eriksen intends to run down his Tottenham contract and leave for nothing next summer, claims The Daily Mail.

The Denmark international has entered the final season of his current deal at Tottenham and has already suggested he will not renew with the club.

Eriksen confirmed in the summer he wants a new challenge and was hoping to secure a move to Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants opted against intensifying their interest in the 27-year-old but are keen to hold talks with the creative midfielder in January about a Bosman transfer.

Eriksen will be able to speak to foreign clubs about a summer move at the start of next year and will not be short of suitors.

Tottenham have endured a nightmare start to the season and head coach Mauricio Pochettino says he wants to sell players in January.

The north London outfit will look to offload Eriksen in January for £30m rather than lose him for nothing at the end of the season but the Dane is prepared to dig his heels in.

Eriksen will be able to command significantly larger wages and a huge signing-on fee if he is a free agent and he intends to run down his Tottenham contract.

Eriksen has only started three of Tottenham’s opening six Premier League matches after falling out of favour under Pochettino. He has returned one goal in that time and a poor WhoScored rating of 6.68.
