Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl insists he has no intentions of leaving amid reports linking him with a move to Manchester City.
Reports emerged suggesting City were planning a £19m move for Weigl, who potential incoming manager Pep Guardiola is a big fan of.
However, the 20-year-old has dismissed talk of his exit and wants to honour the remaining four years of his contract at Dortmund.
“I really don’t plan on leaving Borussia. It’s just not an issue for me,” Weigl told Bild.
“I can only stress that I am under contract at BVB until 2019, and I still want to achieve a lot with this club.”
The young central midfielder is extremely economical in possession, which would make Guardiola’s interest understandable. In fact, only two players have a better pass success rate than Weigl in the Bundesliga this season (92.1%).
