Leicester line up Maguire alternatives amidst Manchester United interest
As of yet Leicester have rebuffed strong interest in World Cup hero Harry Maguire from Manchester United but The Sun report that they are preparing for life without the centre-back.
The Foxes are reportedly preparing a £35m offer for Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles in an attempt to lure the defender back to the Midlands.
Born in Derby, the 24-year-old came through the academy at rivals Nottingham Forest before a switch to the Magpies in 2015.
Following the appointment of Rafa Benitez a year later the Spaniard quickly identified the young defender as a real leader and showed no hesitation in handing Lascelles the armband at St. James’ Park.
The Newcastle skipper has flourished since to become a real fan favourite and any sale would be a huge blow to a fanbase and manager that haven’t had much to celebrate this summer.
The paper, however, also reports that Leicester also have their eye on powerful Getafe centre-half Djene Dakonam, who played a key role in an impressive finish for the Spanish outfit last season.
The club finished in eighth place in La Liga, with only Barcelona and Atletico Madrid conceding fewer goals, and Dakonam was lauded for his part in the club’s defensive resolve.
