Leicester winger making late play into England's Euro 2020 squad

Leicester winger Harvey Barnes' reptuation is growing and could be a surprise name in Gareth Southgate's England squad for Euro 2020, claims The Daily Mail.

Barnes has been capped from England Under-18s level right up until playing for the Under-21s last year but is yet to receive his maiden senior call-up.

The 22-year-old has been a key player for Leicester's remarkable form this season and the Foxes are on course to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Barnes is not the most celebrated of Leicester players but has done enough to catch the eye of England's coaching staff.

Southgate will be at Leicester's tough match away to Wolves on Friday night where he will pay a closer inspection on Barnes.

The Leicester winger has impressively played a direct hand in 10 goals in 23 league appearances in his first full top-flight campaign for the Foxes (four goals, six assists).

After successful back-to-back loan spells in the Championship, Leicester recalled Barnes six-months early from his stint at West Brom last season.

He scored and assisted 15 goals in 26 league appearances for the Baggies before being blooded straight into the Leicester first-team for the second half of last season.

Barnes made 16 appearances for Leicester in 2019/20, leapfrogging Demarai Gray in the pecking order straight away, and has not looked back since.

England play Italy and Denmark in friendlies next month and Barnes looks set to be part of Southgate's experimental squad before finalising his team for Euro 2020.
