Barcelona will announce they have signed Lyon defender Samuel Umtiti in the coming weeks, according to Marca.
Luis Enrique has been keen to strengthen his defence following Marc Bartra’s departure to Borussia Dortmund and Thomas Vermaelen and Jeremy Mathieu’s struggles in the last two years.
Barcelona had identified Marquinhos, Aymeric Laporte and John Stones as their main targets this summer but cannot afford to meet their respective valuations, which has forced them to settle for Lyon.
No Lyon player averaged more passes per game (64.4) than Umtiti in Ligue 1 last season.
