Everton are set to be dealt a blow in their pursuit of Kevin Strootman with the midfielder set to sign a new deal with Roma, according to Corriere dello Sport, via talkSPORT.
Strootman, 26, has plagued by a number of serious knee injuries in recent years but appears back to full fitness and has been immense this season in Serie A.
The Netherlands international, who has previously been linked with a move to the Premier League, has two years remaining on his existing deal with Roma and has always insisted he owes a lot to the club for sticking by him through his injury-hit spells.
Only two players have completed more tackles and interceptions for Roma this season than Strootman (41).
