Everton teen set for new deal

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed teenager Brendan Galloway will be rewarded with a new long-term contract after breaking into the first XI this season.

Galloway, 19, found himself thrown in at the deep end following Leighton Baines’ long-term injury at the start of the season and is now set for improved terms despite only signing a four-year deal when joining from MK Don’s last summer.

“What is true as well is that he’s [Galloway] had a quicker development that we expected – and that is down to his own personality and character,” Martinez is quoted by Eurosport.

“Nothing fazes him, he’s always ready to improve, always ready to perform and, at the football club, we will always do the same thing; when we see a player get ahead of his programme, that needs to be rewarded.”

“That’s not going to be the last contract, it’s just going to be the next step, and we expect Brendan to carry on with his development over the course of the season and in years to come.”
