Real Madrid target open to Bayern stay

Robert Lewandowski is open to extending his deal at Bayern Munich after constructive talks with the board, reports Bild.

The Poland international has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid at the end of the season despite still having five years left on his current deal at the Allianz Arena.

Lewandowski, 27, still has more than three years left to run on his current deal but the striker has revealed he could still extend that deal to 2021 after holding positive talks with the board.

“I know there is interest for me abroad, but I can well conceive of extending due to a great team and teamwork – because the club is known to recognise achievements,” the Bayern striker told the German daily.

“Of course I have noticed how the club has been preparing for the future recently. The contract extensions of Jerome Boateng, Thomas Muller and others were a good sign that Bayern can keep its top players despite the money from England."

Since the start of the season only Luis Suarez (23) and Gonzalo Higuain (24) have scored more goals than Lewandowski (21) across Europe’s top five leagues.
