Real Madrid rekindle interest in Liverpool star

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane is back on Real Madrid’s transfer wish list following Zinedine Zidane’s return, claims MARCA.

Zidane wanted to sign Mane to replace Gareth Bale last summer before announcing his shock resignation.

The Senegal international has emerged as one of the best players in the Premier League since the turn of the year and is now back in Madrid’s sights.

Mane put pen to paper on a new five-year deal in November and Liverpool have no interest in selling one of the best attackers.

Liverpool signed Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in a deal worth £142m in January 2018 and that would be a benchmark fee for Madrid.

Mane is not for sale but Liverpool would likely not even give a second consideration to anything less than what Barcelona paid for Coutinho.

Mane, who was handed Liverpool’s No.10 shirt last summer, is enjoying his best league season in front of goal since moving to England in 2014.

The 26-year-old has scored 17 league goals this season, at least four more than any other Premier League campaign in his career.

In fact, only Sergio Aguero (18) has netted more times than Mane in the Premier League this season.

Mane, who has scored in six straight home league games, has netted at least 10 goals in all five of his Premier League campaigns.
