Roma have €28m bid for Manchester United and Chelsea target accepted
Roma have had a €28m (£24m) bid for Atalanta rising star Franck Kessie accepted, potentially landing a decisive blow in Manchester United and Chelsea’s pursuit of the central midfielder, reports Corriere dello Sport, via Football Italia.
Luciano Spalletti’s side have been in pole position for Kessie’s signature since the turn of the year and look to have won the race in their pursuit of the coveted midfielder ahead of their clash with Atalanta on Saturday.
Kessie has been a revelation for Atalanta this season and has played a huge part in their surprise season, but now looks set to become another player the club have failed to keep hold of this season following Roberto Gagliardini’s move to Inter in January.
Chelsea and United were among the Premier League sides chasing his signature but they may now have to look at alternative midfielders with everything but a medical and a signature on an agreed five-year deal waiting before the transfer can be made official.
Only Gabriel Paletta (3) has been sent off more times in Serie A this season than Kessie (2).
