Atletico Madrid to report Barcelona to FIFA over Griezmann approach
Atletico Madrid intend to report Barcelona to FIFA over their pursuit of Antoine Griezmann, reports The Independent.
Griezmann is widely expected to leave Atletico at the end of the season and Diego Simeone’s side will be powerless in preventing his exit if any team triggers his €100m (£88.5m) release clause.
Manchester United failed in their attempts to sign the France international last summer and have seemingly been overtaken in the race for his signature by Barcelona in the last few weeks.
Barcelona have reportedly even had a meeting with Griezmann’s family about a potential summer switch and Atletico are now preparing to file an official complaint to FIFA about their continued pursuit over their star man.
United were growing increasingly resigned to missing out on Griezmann’s signature to Barcelona but the implications of this complaint could give Jose Mourinho’s side renewed hope.
Griezmann has struggled to rediscover last season’s form but has scored or assisted eight goals in his last nine appearances for Atletico (four goals, four assists).
