Ex-Arsenal midfielder makes first appearance in 18 months

Former Arsenal midfielder About Diaby made his first appearance in nearly 18 months for Marseille on Friday night.

Diaby showed great promise at Arsenal during his formative career but has seen the rest of his career dogged by a series of long-term injuries that has left him fighting to save his career.

The former France international joined Marseille on a free transfer last summer after being released by Arsenal at the end of last season but has struggled to stay fit since his arrival.

However, the lanky midfielder came on for the final 12 minutes of their 5-2 defeat at home to Rennes on Friday evening to make his first appearance in almost 18-months.

The 29-year-old completed 10 of his 13 attempted passes (77% pass success rate), completed two dribbles and had 15 touches during his late cameo.
