Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has dismissed reports linking him with the England job.
The search for England’s next permanent manager has begun after Sam Allardyce was relieved of his duties following controversial allegations brought to light at the start of the week.
Gareth Southgate has been promoted from his role as England Under-21s manager for England’s next four matches and is among the candidates to take the job on full-time.
The Football Association have also reportedly identified Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and Howe as potential successors, although the Bournemouth manager has already moved to down play reports.
“It sounds quite arrogant but I am not interested in the job now – who knows what happens in the future,” The Daily Mail quote Howe as saying. “They haven’t come to me and my message would be very similar to any job I’ve been linked with.
“I’m absolutely committed here, I love the job and I’ve got a lot more work to do. I’ve said many times the England job is the ultimate job but I’ve signed players very recently here, pledged a season to a few of them. I can’t turn my back on this club.”
Since returning to Bournemouth in October 2012, Howe has won an impressive 48.2% of his 193 matches.
