West Ham manager will not be handed new deal

Slaven Bilic has failed to convince the West Ham board he deserves a new contract at the end of the season, reports The Daily Telegraph.

The West Ham manager has spent most of this season under pressure after overseeing what has been a disastrous first year in their new stadium.

It didn’t seem likely that Bilic would last the season at one point around the festive period with relegation a real threat but the Hammers have since managed to pull themselves clear of the bottom three, albeit unconvincingly.

There had been suggestions that West Ham would look to reward Bilic with a new deal as his current contract is due to expire at the end of next season, but the east London outfit have now put those thoughts on hold until next January at the very earliest.

West Ham are not interested in sacking Bilic and are aware this has been a difficult season for the 48-year-old for various reasons that have been out of his control, but they are still not prepared to offer him an extension just yet.

Only Liverpool (9) have made as many errors that have directly lead to an opposition goal in the Premier League this season as West Ham.
