Barcelona midfielder frustrated with reserve role

Arturo Vidal has admitted he is frustrated at Barcelona just two months after signing from Bayern Munich.

Inter were favourites to sign Vidal from Bayern before Barcelona hi-jacked the move and got a £27.7m deal over the line at the start of August.

Vidal put pen to paper on a three-year deal but the Chile international has struggled to make any impact at the club and he is already irritated by a lack of game time.

“I am not happy but if I have a problem with the coach I will say it to his face,” The Independent quote Vidal as saying during the international break.

“How am I going to be happy if I don’t play, and me of all people? I am someone who has always fought, that has been in the best teams in the world, who has won everything and who wants to continue winning at Barcelona.

“I am fine physically and happy. In the past few games I have been a little irritated but that’s how it is. We will keep battling, there are a lot of important games ahead and we will see.”

Vidal has only started two of Barcelona’s first eight league matches and has been limited to substitute appearances in their opening two European games.

The 31-year-old managed an assist on his first league start for the club but he is competing for a place in a midfield three alongside Coutinho, Sergio Busquets, Ivan Rakitic and Arthur.
