Jack Wilshere is contemplating a January move away from Arsenal in order to salvage his hopes of making Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the 2018 World Cup, reports The Times.
The 25-year-old is fully fit after recovering from a broken leg suffered in April but is way down the pecking order for places in Arsenal’s midfield despite excelling against BATE Borisov last month.
Wilshere has not played for England since their exit from Euro 2016 at the hands of Iceland in the round of 16 stage and he is determined to work his way back into contention with the Three Lions ahead of next summer.
Arsene Wenger is keen to ease Wilshere back into action but the midfielder has doubts whether he will be given a serious run in the team and is therefore considering a January move away in search of regular first-team football.
Wilshere’s current Arsenal deal is due to expire at the end of the current campaign, which would leave his future at the club in the balance if he moves in January with his future unresolved.
Since the start of last season, Wilshere has had 27 shots without scoring in the Premier League, hitting the woodwork five times.
Jesus, is it him on the photo? He looks at least 10 years older than he is...
