Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of Diego Cavalieri until the end of the season.
The Eagles had been linked with a new shotstopper through January, with Roy Hodgson at long last landing a goalkeeper.
“Crystal Palace have signed former Brazil international goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri until the end of the season, where he will link up with Roy Hodgson again having previously worked under the Eagles manager at Liverpool,” a statement read on the club’s official website.
“The 35-year-old shot-stopper was a free agent following his release from Fluminense at the end of 2017, and after undergoing a successful trial in south London, he has been added to Palace’s 25-man Premier League squad.
“Cavalieri will add a wealth of experience to the squad having started his career at Palmeiras in 2002. He spent six years with the Sao Paulo outfit before being brought to Anfield by Rafael Benitez, where he played 10 times over two years as an understudy to Pepe Reina, keeping four clean sheets.”
On his move to Selhurst Park, the Brazilian said: "I am very happy to be here and have been training with the guys for some time now. The atmosphere in the dressing room has been really good and they have received me very well so we can talk a lot and get to know everyone. I am very happy with this opportunity."
Despite a lack of regular game time for Fluminense last season, the Brazilian side still had a better win return with Cavalieri starting (37.5%) than without him (22.7%) in the Brasileirao.
