Barcelona look set to call off their pursuit of Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin, reports Mundo Deportivo via the Metro.
The La Liga giants had been keen to lure the right-back back to Camp Not after he left for the Gunners in 2011.
Arsenal, though, have remained steadfast in Barcelona’s attempts to sign Bellerin, 22, who penned a new contract for the north London side last October.
Barcelona head coach Ernesto Valverde is looking to strengthen at right-back this summer, with the club struggling to replace Dani Alves following his free switch to Juventus last summer.
Bellerin is eager to link up with Valverde in Barcelona, who were surprised by Arsenal’s refusal to do business with the Spanish giants.
However, the La Liga outfit are now set to end their interest in Bellerin and turn their attention elsewhere, which would come as a blow to Barcelona’s quest to strengthen this year.
Barcelona are, however, believed to be close to signing Marco Verratti from PSG after they agreed personal terms with the Italian midfielder.
