Tottenham defender Danny Rose still for sale this summer

Tottenham are willing to let Danny Rose leave the club this month despite the fact they won’t be able to replace the England international, claims The Daily Mirror.

Rose failed to secure a move to Manchester United after Jose Mourinho’s side cooled their interest in the £50m-rated left-back.

The 28-year-old has dropped down the pecking order at Tottenham in the last 12 months and Mauricio Pochettino is willing to sanction his sale.

The transfer deadline for English clubs closed last week but Spanish, French and German sides can still sign players until the end of the month, while the deadline for Italian teams closes on Friday.

Schalke and Paris Saint-Germain are both interested in prising Rose away from Tottenham in order to solve their issues at left-back.

Pochettino is confident he has enough options to cope without Rose even though it will mean moving Jan Vertonghen out of the heart of their defence if needed.

Rose, who has failed to rediscover his best form since returning from a serious knee injury, has only made 10 Premier League appearances since the start of last season.

Despite a lack of playing time, Rose was still selected by Gareth Southgate for England’s 23-man squad for the 2018 World Cup.

He featured in five matches in Russia this summer but only started twice after Southgate picked Ashley Young as his first choice left wing-back.

Since August 2016, Tottenham have a better win ratio in the Premier League when Rose has not started (68%) compared to when he has featured from the off (59.3%).
