Hudson-Odoi wants assurances before signing Chelsea deal

Callum Hudson-Odoi will sign a new long-term Chelsea deal if he is given assurances about regular playing time next season, claims The Sun.

Hudson-Odoi has one year left to run on his current Chelsea deal and the Blues are desperate to secure his long-term future.

The England international grew disillusioned over a lack of playing time under Maurizio Sarri last season and is not prepared to spend another campaign on the bench.

Chelsea rejected several bids for Hudson-Odoi from Bayern Munich in January and the Bundesliga champions are still interested in the teenager winger.

Hudson-Odoi will miss the start of next season after rupturing his Achilles tendon in April.

This has boosted chances of retaining Hudson-Odoi, though the 18-year-old will only put pen to paper on a new deal if he is guaranteed minutes next season.

Hudson-Odoi was given a run in the Chelsea first-team prior to his injury but it is unclear who will manage the Blues next term with Maurizio Sarri expected to return to Italy.

Hudson-Odoi played a direct hand in six goals in nine Europa League appearances last term compared to just one assist in 10 Premier League matches.

Of players that made at least five appearances in the Europa League last season, only Eden Hazard (7.2) completed more dribbles per 90 than Hudson-Odoi (6.5).
