West Ham suffer blow in pursuit of new striker

West Ham United have fallen short in their attempts to sign Burak Yilmaz after refusing to meet Galatasaray’s £8m valuation, according to the London Evening Standard.

Slaven Bilic’s side are keen to sign a new striker before the transfer window shuts on Monday and have now turned all of their attentions to completing a deal to sign Fenerbahce’s Emmanuel Emenike.

The Hammers had been hoping to take Yilmaz on loan until the end of the season before deciding whether to make the deal permanent, but have dropped out the race to sign the 30-year-old with Galatasaray only open to a permanent deal this month.

West Ham currently have Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho out injured and recently sold Mauro Zarate to Fiorentina leaving Slaven Bilic short of options up front.

Since the start of last season only Fernandão (32) has scored more goals than Yilmaz (25) in the Turkish Super Lig.
