Real Madrid could step up their interest in Chelsea forward Eden Hazard, according to the London Evening Standard.
Los Blancos replaced Rafa Benitez with Zinedine Zidane on Monday and the former Madrid legend has previously openly expressed his admiration in the Belgium international.
Hazard, 24, has also previously held Zidane in the highest regard and his poor start to the season and murmurs of unrest could make the deal plausible at the end of the current campaign.
“I have no doubts he’ll be back. After Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Hazard is my favourite player. It is spectacular to see him play,” Zidane commented when he was coaching Madrid’s reserve team Castilla.
“Do I see him going to Real Madrid? I love the player, that’s all I will say.”
The former Lille creator only penned a new five-year deal with Chelsea 10 months ago in a bid to secure his long-term future and it would take a huge bid from Madrid to prize him away from Stamford Bridge.
Last season’s PFA Player of the Year has struggled to hit the same heights this time around and is without a goal in 2,289 minutes in all competitions.
