Arsenal have entered the race to sign highly rated defender Marquinhos from Paris Saint-Germain, according to L’Equipe, via Get French Football.
Marquinhos, 21, is regarded as one of the best young defenders currently playing in Europe and looks destined to leave the Ligue 1 champions this summer are mysteriously failing to nail down a regular spot under Laurent Blanc.
The Brazil international was excluded from the starting XI that drew 2-2 with Manchester City in the Champions League last week, which has alerted suitors to his availability in the summer.
With three years remaining on his current deal and given Thiago Silva’s age (31), PSG would be reluctant to lose a defender as talented as Marquinhos, but he has been vocal in his frustrations already this season.
Only Thiago Silva (94.5%) and Marco Verratti (93%) have a better pass success rate than Marquinhos (92.8%) in Ligue 1 this season.
