Chinese Super League team willing to spend £38m on Premier League ace

An unnamed Chinese Super League team are ready to offer West Ham United £38m for star midfielder Dimitri Payet, according to Sky Sports.

Payet, 28, only signed a five-year deal with the Hammers at the start of the season but it had emerged his agent was demanding a new £120,000-a-week deal for the Frenchman.

However, Slaven Bilic’s side dismissed those reports on Tuesday and revealed the club are already in talks to improve the former Marseille midfielder’s contract.

The Hammers are understandably keen to keep hold of their star performer, but an offer of this size could at least tempt them to consider their options.

According to Sky Sports, the Chinese Super League outfit would also be willing to pay Payet 135,000-a-week after tax.

Payet has created at least 36 more chances than any other West Ham midfielder in the Premier League this season (67).
