AC Milan continue spending spree with ninth summer signing

Lucas Biglia has completed his move to AC Milan from Lazio, becoming the Rossoneri’s ninth summer signing in turn, the club have announced via their official website.

The Argentine international has been a key player in Rome for the past four seasons, anchoring the team’s midfield in impressive fashion, and will now vie for a place in an increasingly competitive Milan squad having signed a three-year contract at the club.

He joins new midfield signings Franck Kessie and Hakan Calhanoglu in competing for places with the likes of Giacomo Bonaventura, Riccardo Montolivo and Manuel Locatelli at the club.

Biglia certainly has the advantage of being the most defensively minded of the options at Vincenzo Montella’s disposal, with only Napoli midfield Allan having completed more tackles over the past three Serie A seasons (273).

The 31-year-old’s average of 3.2 tackles per game was the most for Lazio last season as Simone Inzaghi’s men secured fifth spot - one place ahead of Milan, who will join them in the Europa League next season.
