Manchester United target Nicolas Otamendi will not be signing for Real Madrid this summer, according to the player’s agent.
Real Madrid were reportedly lining the Valencia defender up as Sergio Ramos’ replacement should they part ways with the latter this summer.
However, according to Otamendi’s agent, the Argentina international will have already moved to a new club before Ramos’ future is resolved.
"Before Sergio Ramos leaves Real Madrid - if he does leave - Otamendi will be already playing for another club,” Lopez told Spanish radio station Cadena Cope.
The 27-year-old's performances were enough to force his way into WhoScored.com’s statistically calculated European team of the season last term with a rating of 7.59.
In what was Otamendi’s first season at Valencia, no player blocked more shots (28) or made more clearances (256) and no defender won more headers (123) in La Liga last season.
