Bundesliga star shock name for England’s 2018 World Cup squad

Bayer Leverkusen star Leon Bailey could be a shock inclusion in England’s 2018 World Cup squad, reports The Daily Mirror.

Bailey was born in Jamaica but is eligible to feature for England as two of his grand-parents hold British passports.

The 20-year-old has been one of the star performers in the Bundesliga this season and looks set for a big money move away from Leverkusen in the summer.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea have all been heavily linked with a move for the forward and even England’s recruitment team are monitoring the starlet.

England have previously considered official approach for the likes of Manuel Almunia and Adnan Januzaj but neither came to fruition.

Bailey, who also qualifies to play for Belgium, joined Leverkusen from Genk in January 2017 but only made eight substitute appearances in the second half of last season.

However, he has been a sensation for Leverkusen this season and is currently the fourth highest WhoScored rated player in the Bundesliga (7.57).

In fact, of players aged 21 and under in Europe’s top five leagues that have made at least five appearances this season, only Kylian Mbappe (7.76) has a higher WhoScored rating than Bailey.
