Liverpool enter race for former Manchester United outcast

Michael Keane failed to make the grade under Louis van Gaal at Manchester United but the 24-year-old looks set for a high profile move back to one of the Premier League’s biggest clubs with Liverpool and Everton chasing his signature, reports The Daily Mail.

The 24-year-old made an accomplished international debut for England during their 1-0 defeat to Germany on Wednesday and he is now on Liverpool’s radar with Jurgen Klopp continuing to assess his defensive options ahead of next season.

Everton and Leicester failed in their attempts to sign the former United outcast at the start of the season and Ronald Koeman’s side are expected to reignite their interest at the end of the season with the Everton manager keen to sign a long-term replacement for Phil Jagielka.

Keane has won more aerial duels (123) than any other defender in Europe’s top five leagues this season.
