Sigurdsson still a target for Everton despite Klaassen arrival
Everton will still pursue the signature of Swansea star Gyfli Sigurdsson this summer, despite the arrival of Davy Klaassen from Ajax, reports Wales Online.
The Toffees confirmed the signing of Klaassen late on Thursday night, mere hours after the club-record arrival of Jordan Pickford from Sunderland.
Ronald Koeman is expected to invest heavily in his squad this summer and is still keen on bringing Sigurdsson to Goodison Park, despite Klaassen’s capture.
The Iceland international has been strongly linked with a move to the Merseyside outfit for months now, though talk of a move to Everton has cooled in recent weeks.
Nevertheless, the Toffees are still trying for the 27-year-old, who registered 13 assists in the Premier League last season, the third best return in the top-flight of English football.
Sigurdsson remains in Koeman’s sights and are readying a £25m move to test Swansea’s resolve, though it’s thought they are holding out for bids of £40m for the Icelander.
