Sunderland eye move for Irish duo

Sunderland are pondering a move for Republic of Ireland duo Robbie Brady and Shane Long in January, according to The Daily Telegraph.

David Moyes’ side are yet to win a game in the Premier League, having only taken two points from a possible 24 this season and the Sunderland manager is desperate to add Premier League experience to his squad in January.

Brady, 24, is currently plying his trade in the Championship with Norwich after they were relegated from Premier League last season but the versatile left-back was linked with a £12m move to Premier League champions Leicester during the summer.

As well as looking to strengthen his defence, Moyes also wants to find assistance for Jeremain Defoe and is weighing a move for Southampton striker Long, who has dropped down the pecking order under Claude Puel in recent weeks.

Despite commanding big transfer fees wherever he has gone, Long has only hit double figures for goals in a Premier League campaign on one occasion and is still looking to find the back of the net in the league this season, having made seven appearances.
