Mendy determined to see off any left-back arrival at Manchester City

Benjamin Mendy has not given any thought to leaving Manchester City and is determined to nail down a regular starting berth next season, claims The Sun.

Mendy has struggled to stay fit for prolonged period since making a £52m move to City from French side Monaco in the summer of 2017.

The 2018 World Cup winner’s off-field antics have also disgruntled Guardiola to the point where the City boss wants to sign a new left-back at the end of the season.

Leicester ace Ben Chilwell currently tops Guardiola’s summer wish list but Mendy is determined to put his injury woes behind him next season.

Mendy has only started 14 Premier League matches over the last two seasons and is now below Oleksandr Zinchenko in the pecking order for places.

The Ukraine international’s natural position is as an advanced winger but he has flourished in the second half of the season and is now keeping a fit-again Mendy out of the team.

Mendy make a sublime start to the season before another serious knee injury brought a halt to his playing time.

Of players to have started at least 10 Premier League matches this season, Mendy requires the fewest minutes per assist (1 every 180 minutes of action).
