Balotelli linked with return to Premier League

The agent of Mario Balotelli has revealed the controversial striker could make a sensational return to the Premier League in the summer.

Balotelli, 24, joined Nice on a one-year deal in the summer after falling completely out of favour under Jurgen Klopp at the end of last season.

The Italy international has been in fine goalscoring form and looks to have kickstarted his career with the surprise Ligue 1 winter champions, but he will be free to discuss terms with foreign teams next month with his current deal due to expire at the end of the season.

Balotelli has been linked with a return to Italy already this season but his agent, Mino Raiola, believes a return to the Premier League would be more appropriate.

“Mario is an outstanding talent to have on a free transfer and would be fantastic in the Premier League,” Raiola told The Daily Mail, via The Daily Express.

“He has many options and England is one of them but it is not necessarily his priority. We remain open.”

Everton turned down the chance to sign Balotelli in the summer but Ronald Koeman could revisit the deal as he looks to help ease the goalscoring burden on Romelu Lukaku, and given how Balotelli ended his relationship with Liverpool, you’d expected Raiola would jump at the chance to get that deal done.

Balotelli has scored as many goals as he has started league games this season (8) and is on course for a shock title triumph with Nice, who finished the first half of the season two points clear of Monaco and five above reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain.
